The Pavillion

By Craig Wright

Directed by Mr. Sullivan

Competition Piece / Drama

Hailed by critics as an "an Our Town for our time," this play is by turns poetic and comic, romantic and philosophical. Peter returns to his twenty-year high-school reunion with dreams of winning back Kari, the girl he left behind. Standing in Peter's way is Kari's bitter-as-ever resentment, her husband and the fact that Peter still hasn't grown up. As the night progresses, both Peter and Kari are led, through their interactions with a host of characters all played by a virtuosic Narrator, to face the consequences of choices made long ago and start back into life with newfound strength and bittersweet resolve.

CHARACTERS:

NARRATOR (m or f): The poetic, ubiquitous host of the events of the play. Also plays all the classmates at the reunion.

PETER (m) A boyishly misguided, optimistic.

KARI (f) An embittered, resigned, harsh realist

Mr. Sullivan is also interested in musicians, particularly in guitarists, for both characters and the possibility of ancillary musicians

Dating can be hard. Especially when your date happens to be a raging kleptomaniac, or your grandmother's bridge partner, or a mime. Check, Please! follows a series of blind dinner dates that couldn't get any worse -- until they do. Could there possibly be a light at the end of the tunnel?

CASTING:

7m & 7f for a variety of roles

Student Directed 10 Minute Play(s)

Titles and Casting TBA

*Those interested in directing a ten-minute play should submit an application via the Google Form at www.anokatheatre.com/the-callboard

(To be posted by 11/17)

The application will consist of a short questionnaire, and short answer response. For more info, please visit the Callboard online this weekend!

Ideally, Mr. Sullivan will select 3 student directors -

however, if interest is low, this number may change.

Student directors will pick a ten-minute play from a selection pre-approved by Mr. Sullivan. They will then be mentored by Sullivan through the preplanning, casting, blocking, and producing process.

A great opportunity for those who want to try their hand at directing!
